One Patient at a Time: The Port Credit Audiology Story So Far
From the first coat of paint to the familiar faces we see today, a look back at the people and moments that have shaped our practice.

On November 3, 2017, I opened the doors to Port Credit Audiology.
I hoped to create a small, independent hearing clinic where I could take the time to get to know my patients, provide the care I believed in, and become part of a community.
What I didn’t know was whether the phone would ring.
I still remember those early days. Some days, I saw only one or two people. There was time between appointments to wonder whether the practice would find its feet, whether people would hear about us, and whether they would give a new clinic a chance.
Looking through these photographs brings that feeling back. They capture the work of getting the clinic ready, the changes along the way, and the people who have become part of its story.
And that is what I’m most grateful for: everyone who chose to walk through our doors.
Before the first appointment

Before there were appointments, there was a space to prepare.
This photograph is a reminder of that practical beginning: paint rollers, ladders, equipment, and all the work that happens before a clinic is ready to welcome anyone.
At the time, I was thinking about the practice I wanted to build and how to make it a reality. Looking back now, I’m glad these moments were photographed. It’s easy to remember opening day and forget everything that came before it.
The finished reception area was one milestone. The first patient walking into it would be another.

The quiet days at the beginning
Opening an independent practice meant taking a chance on an idea I cared deeply about.
I wanted time to listen. Time to understand the person sitting across from me. Time to provide care in a way that felt personal.
But believing in that idea didn’t remove the uncertainty of starting out.
In those early days, every enquiry mattered. Every appointment was an opportunity to meet someone, understand what had brought them in, and begin earning their trust.
When you see only one or two people in a day, you remember how much it means that they chose you.
Those first patients gave Port Credit Audiology its beginning. Without them, there would be no story to look back on.

One patient became two
Slowly, things began to change.
One patient became two. Families started referring their loved ones. People returned, and faces became familiar.
The practice began to grow through those relationships.
A referral from a patient has always meant a great deal to me. When someone recommends us to a partner, parent, friend, or neighbour, they are trusting us with someone important to them.
That is a responsibility I take seriously.
What began as a one-person practice gradually became something shared: a place shaped by the people who visited, the team members who joined, and the trust built over time.
Looking at the photographs of people in the clinic is especially meaningful.
They remind me that the history of a practice is held in relationships. The building and equipment are part of it, but so are the conversations, the return visits, and the people we’ve come to know.
Some patients have been with us for years. Others have joined us more recently. I’m grateful to all of them.
Growing while keeping care personal
Over the years, we’ve welcomed new team members and expanded our services.
The practice has changed from the one I opened in 2017. There are more people contributing to its work, and more experience behind us.
Through that growth, I’ve wanted to hold on to the reason I started.
Great hearing care begins with getting to know someone. An appointment is a chance to listen to their questions, understand their concerns, and talk about what matters to them.
That was the kind of care I wanted to provide when the clinic was quiet. It remains the kind of care I believe in as we grow.

Hearing aids are part of what we do. So are the relationships that develop around that care.
People, relationships, and trust have remained central to Port Credit Audiology through every stage of its development.
A changing space

This photograph shows how the clinic itself has evolved.
There are images of work in progress alongside photographs of finished rooms. The earlier reception desk gives way to a different design. Details change, while the Port Credit name remains.
When you work in a space every day, those changes can gradually become ordinary. Seeing the photographs together makes them more noticeable.
They give us a chance to pause and appreciate how far the practice has come.

There have been milestones worth stopping for along the way, too.
The sixth-birthday photograph is one of them: a moment to mark another year and reflect on everything that had happened since opening.
Each anniversary brings back memories of the beginning. It also brings a growing appreciation for the people who have helped us reach it.
Becoming part of the community
From the outset, I hoped Port Credit Audiology would become part of the community around it.
Over the years, we’ve supported local events and organizations and built connections beyond the clinic.
Those experiences have become part of our story alongside the appointments and changes within our walls.

There’s something special about getting to know the place where you work through its people, local businesses, and shared events.
I’m grateful that the practice has given me opportunities to make those connections, and to contribute to the community that has supported us.
Looking ahead
Today, we’re looking ahead to the next chapter.
There is more to build on, more to learn, and more people to meet. Growth brings change, just as it has throughout the practice’s history.
The belief behind Port Credit Audiology remains the same: great hearing care is about people, relationships, and trust.
Looking back at the quiet early days, I couldn’t have known all the faces that would become familiar or all the moments these photographs would capture.
I’m thankful that what started as an idea became a practice that so many people have helped shape.
Thank you for being part of our story
To the patients who took a chance on us in those first days: thank you.
To everyone who has referred a loved one, returned to see us, joined our team, or supported the practice along the way: thank you.
And to those who have only recently walked through our doors: welcome. You are part of this story, too.
Whether you’ve been with us since day one or have just become part of the practice, thank you for your trust.
It has meant more than you know.
I look forward to what comes next.
