Ashley Mannix has been a member of the team at Port Credit Audiology & Hearing Aid Clinic since 2020. Ashley began her career as a Communicative Disorders Assistant and developed a wealth of knowledge in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.

With a desire to play a more central role in the management and treatment of hearing loss, Ashley became a Registered Hearing Instrument Specialist and provides a range of clinical services such as hearing assessments, cerumen management, and consultation on dispensing of hearing instruments and assistive devices. Ashley prides herself on delivering the highest levels of hearing health care and ensuring her clients are supported and encouraged to be active participants in their hearing care journey.

Ashley obtained her Honours Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Children Studies from York University and a Communicative Disorders Assistant Graduate Certificate from Durham College. Most recently, she graduated from the Hearing Aid Practitioner Program at MacEwan University. Outside of work Ashley enjoys reading, playing board games and spending time with her family and two cats, Jinx and Echo.

What she likes most about working at Port Credit Audiology is that it’s challenging but also rewarding as the needs and success of the client are at the heart of everything we do. Ashley is likely to be the first person you’ll see or talk to and she looks forward to meeting you soon!

What's your go-to karaoke song, and do you have any signature dance moves?

Man! I feel like a woman by Shania Twain. Unfortunately, my only dance moves are finger guns.

What's your favorite book, movie, or TV show and why?

My favourite book series is Harry Potter. It was the very first book series I ever read as a child so it makes me feel very nostalgic. It’s the reason I’m an avid reader today. I read about 200 books a year.

What's the weirdest food you've ever tried, and did you like it?

The weirdest food I have tried is crocodile. I went down to Florida when I was pregnant with my daughter and one of the restaurants served fried crocodile. Everyone says it tastes like chicken but I’d have to disagree. The marinara sauce helped!

What's your guilty pleasure when it comes to music, movies, or TV shows?

My guilty pleasure is watching Love is Blind. I’m not normally a huge fan of reality television but the premise of several strangers getting engaged before ever seeing each other is too good to ignore.

What's your favorite board game or video game, and do you have any special strategies?

My favourite board game is Catan. My special strategy is to build the longest road and someone always builds right in the middle of it.

If you could have any type of pet, real or fictional, what would it be and what would you name it?

I would get an alpaca named Norbert.

What's your favorite season, and what activities do you enjoy during that time of year?

My favourite season is winter and my favourite activity to do during this time of year is wearing comfy clothes, setting out candles, drinking coffee and reading by the window while it snows outside. It also helps if there’s Christmas tree lights in the background. I put up my tree on November 1st.

If you were a chef, what dish would you be famous for cooking?

I make a mean grilled cheese sandwich with Monterey Jack cheese and jalapeños.
