Audiology and Hearing Aid Services
Every medical issue a person confronts is unique to that individual, including each instance of hearing loss. While an injury or illness can be a single cause, a combination of many factors is usually responsible for hearing loss. In any event, it is always important to have qualified medical professionals evaluate your hearing and recommend how to proceed.
At Port Credit Audiology and Hearing Aid Clinic, our goals ensure the patient gets what they need, through thorough evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of hearing problems. We offer a wide range of diagnostic and equipment services. Here is an overview of our hearing services:
Comprehensive hearing evaluation and treatment begins with a hearing test. This test gives a number of valuable measurements of your hearing ability, including sounds you are least able to hear and your ability to understand speech at several levels. Hearing tests involve listening to various tones and words through earphones. Audiologists check the outer ear and ask several questions during the process.
Earwax, or cerumen, builds over time in the outer ear canal and usually disperses by itself. However, the buildup of earwax can be annoying and unhealthy. Patients are usually able to clear earwax at home, but occasionally they need help. Port Credit Audiology & Hearing Aid Clinic can quickly and painlessly remove cerumen.
Hearing Aid Dispensing and Fitting
If you need a hearing aid, the choices can be overwhelming, but your Audiologist knows how to narrow the field to a few of the best choices. Hearing aids vary in size and shape; they can be worn mostly outside the ear or completely in the ear canal. As described above, your hearing has been extensively evaluated and the Audiologist will recommend the best unit for your needs. We know that expense and comfort are main concerns for many people.
Hearing Aid Repairs
Like any fine instrument, your hearing aid can break or need cleaning. Most cleaning can be done at home, as can some minor repairs, but hearing aid users generally need help with these chores. Our Audiologist is trained to clean and repair most hearing instruments, and can also send your hearing aid out to the factory if necessary. With the correct care, hearing aids stay in service for many years.
We offer audiology appointments from the comfort of your own home.
Tinnitus Evaluation and Management
Tinnitus is also known as ringing in the ears. This problem is common and can range from mild to profound, but there are several ways in which it is treated. The ringing, whooshing or buzzing sound you experience is frustrating. It is a condition without a cure, but hearing professionals at Port Credit Audiology and Hearing Aid Clinic offer help battling it.
